PERFORMING THE PRAYER

5 KINDS OF PRAYER: (TIME INDICATED MAY ONLY APPLY IN ASIA)

1. The Morning Prayer (SUBH PRAYER)
TIME: 5:00 AM
RAKAT: 2
NIYYAH: Ushalli fardhas Subhi raka'ataini adaa-an lillaahi ta-aala.

(MEANING: I hereby perform the Subh prayer in 2 Rakaa'ahs only for Allah)

2. The Noon Prayer (ZUHR PRAYER)
TIME: 12:15 PM
RAKAT: 4
NIYYAH: Ushalli fardhaz Zuhri ar-ba-'a raka-'aatin adaa-an lillaahi ta-aala.

(MEANING: I hereby perform the Zuhr prayer in 4 Rakaa'ahs only for Allah)

3. The Afternoon Prayer ('ASR PRAYER)
TIME: 3:00 PM
RAKAT: 4
NIYYAH: Ushalli fardhal 'Asri ar-ba-'a raka-'aatin adaa-an lillaahi ta-aala

(MEANING: I hereby perform the 'Asr prayer in 4 Rakaa'ahs only for Allah)

4. The Evening Prayer (MAGHRIB PRAYER)
TIME: 6:15 PM
RAKAT: 3
NIYYAH: Ushalli fardhal Maghribi thalatha raka-'aatin adaa-an lillaahi ta-aala

(MEANING: I hereby perform the 'Maghrib prayer in 3 Rakaa'ahs only for Allah)

5. The Night Prayer ('ISHAA PRAYER)
TIME: 7:30 PM
RAKAT: 4
NIYYAH: Ushalli fardhal 'Ishaa-i arba-'a raka-'aatin adaa-an lillaahi ta-aala

(MEANING: I hereby perform the 'Ishaa prayer in 4 Rakaa'ahs only for Allah)

STEP 1:

Maka a sincere intention to perform the prayers purely for the sake of Allah by reciting the NIYYAH (as indicated above) of the prayer you are going to perform.

This posture is called QIYAM and it is assumed after having made the intention to pray. Raising both hands up to the ears (palms facing the Qiblah)

Say:
"Allah u Akbar" ("Allah is the greatest")
.




STEP 2:
Hold the left hand with the right hand on top and recite the Al-Faatihah:

"Bismillahir rahmaanir rahiim. Al humdo lil-lahi rab-bil ala-meen. Arrahman i rraheem. Maliki yaum i eddeen. Iyyaka nabudu wa iyyaka nasta een. Ihdinas sirata almustaqeem. Siratal lazhina anamta alaihim, ghairil maghdubi alaihim, wa la adhdhaal leen. (Aameen)"

(Meaning: In the name of Allah, the Beneficient, the Merciful. Praise be to Allah, The Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds; Most Gracious, Most Merciful; Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek. Show us the straight way, the way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, Those whose (portion) is not wrath, And who go not astray.)

NOTE: After reciting the Al-Fatihah, you can recite any suurah you like.

STEP 3:
Saying "Allahu Akbar "(the back & leg should be perpendicular to each other) this position is assumed as shown in the figure. This position is called Ruku.

Say:

"Subhana rabbiya al azeem" (3x)

(Meaning: Glorified is my Lord, the Great)



STEP 4:

Stand again and say:

"Samia Allah u liman hamidah"

(Meaning: Allah listens to him who praises Him)

then recite this:

"Rabbana wa laka al hamd"

(Meaning: Our Lord, praise be for you only)



STEP 5:

This position is called sujood.

Say "Allahu Akbar" then sujud.

Recite:

"Subhana rubbiyal a'ala wabihamdih" 3x.

(Meaning:Glory to Allah, the Exalted)

STEP 6:
Saying "Allah u Akbar" ("Allah is the greatest") and rising from the Sujood position, this posture called Juloos is assumed and the prayer below is said:

"'Rabbigh firlee war hamnee"

(Meaning: "O my Lord, forgive me and have Mercy on me")





STEP 7:

Saying "Allah u Akbar" ("Allah is the greatest") Perform the Sujud again.

Say:

"Subhana rubbiyal a'ala wabihamdih"

(Meaning: Glory to Allah, the Exalted")


NOTE: THIS COMPLETES 1 RAKAT.


STEP 8:

Saying "Allah u Akbar" ("Allah is the greatest") this position of qiyam is repeated once again to begin the second rakah, and the following prayers are recited:

  1. Al-Fatihah, and
  2. Any short surah or some verses of the Holy Quran.





Step 9
Saying "Allah u Akbar", this position is assumed as shown in the figure. This position is called ruku.

Say:

"Subhana rabbiya al azeem" 3x.







STEP 10:

While going back to qiyam position again,

say:

"Samia Allahu liman hamidah"

and

"Rabbana wa laka al hamd"




STEP 11:




Say "Allahu Akbar" then sujud.

Recite:

"Subhana rubbiyal a'ala wabihamdih" 3x.


STEP 12:
Saying "Allah u Akbar" ("Allah is the greatest") and rising from the Sujood position, this posture called Juloos is assumed and the prayer below is said:

"'Rabbigh firlee war hamnee"

(Meaning: "O my Lord, forgive me and have Mercy on me")





STEP 13:

Saying "Allah u Akbar" ("Allah is the greatest") Perform the Sujud again.

Say:

"Subhana rubbiyal a'ala wabihamdih"


STEP 14:
In this posture these prayers are to be recited:

  1. ("Tashahud PART 1)

    "Attahiyyaatul mubaarakaatus salawaatut tayyibaatu lillah. Assalaamu 'alaika ayyuhan nabiyyu warahmatullahii wabarakatuh, assalaamu 'alainaa wa-'alaa 'ibaadillaahis saaliheen. Ashhadu allaa illaaha illallaahu wa-ash hadu anna muhammaadar rasuulullah. Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammad.

  2. Position your hand in this manner:


    (move your first finger up and down as shown while reciting the last part of Tashahud)

    (Meaning: "All our oral, physical and monetary ways of worship are only for Allah. Peace, mercy and blessing of Allah be on you, O Prophet. May peace be upon us and on the devout slaves of Allah. I testify that there is no God but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and messenger"
    .)


NOTE: WHEN PERFORMING THE SUBH PRAYER (5:00 AM PRAYER),RECITE ONLY THE TASHAHUD PART 1)

TASHAHUD PART 2

"Wa 'alaa aali muhammad kama sallaita 'alaa ibraheem wa 'alaa aali ibraheem wabaarik 'alaa muhammad wa'alaa aali muhammad kama barak ta 'alaa ibraheem wa 'alaa aali ibraheem fil 'aalamiina innaka hamiduum majeed."

(Meaning: O God send your Mercy on Muhammad and his posterity as you sent Your mercy on Abraham and his posterity. You are the Most Praised, The Most Glorious. O God, send your Blessings on Muhammad and his posterity as you have blessed Abraham and his posterity. You are the Most praised, The Most Glorious.)

NOTE: WHEN PERFORMING THE ZUHR, ASR, MAGHRIB AND ISHAA PRAYERS, RECITE THE TASHAAHUD PARTS 1 AND 2.

STEP 15:
Having said the above mentioned prayers, turn the face to the right. This following prayer is read:

"Assalam u a'laikum wa rahmatu Allah".

(Meaning: "Peace and mercy of Allah be on you".)

Note: This Salam (Prayer for Peace) is directed to the angels and the muslims to our right and to the left.


STEP 16:

Then turning the face to the left, the prayer above is said again: "Assalam u a'laikum wa rahmatu Allah".










NOTE: THIS COMPLETES 2 RAKATS



REMEMBER!!!

1. For the Maghrib prayer, and for the Zuhur, 'Asr and Ishaa, after reading the Tashahud part 1, get up again to the standing position/QIYAM to continue with the third rakaat(for the Maghrib) or for the fourth rakaat (for the Zuhur, 'Asr and Ishaa)

2. Tashaahhud part 2 for the Maghrib prayer is recited after the second sujud of the third rakaat.

3. Tashaahud part 2 for the Zuhur, 'Asr, and Ishaa is recited after the second sujud of the fourth rakaat.


Things na maka bahtal:

1. Eating or drinking intentionally.
2. Talking while praying.
3. Laughing while praying.
4. Farting

Alhamdulillah, and thanks a lot to this publisher. May Allah reward you and guide you more. Only that, I would like to add a comment and expand to everybody that: the place of intention (niyat) is in the heart and not to be expressed or recited. In his intention, one should intent that he or she is performing such a prayer as fajr, dhuhr, asr, maghrib, isha or any sunnah prayer. Hati niya di na natu paglafalun in niyat pasal in Allahu subhanahu wa Taala makarungug ha katan sin niyat natu ha tiyap tiyap pangatayan sin hambuuk katu. Amu yadtu in hindu sin Rasul (SAW). Magsukul taymanghud.
