PAG LITSIN ATAWA PAG AYIL (ABLUTION)
Always start each step by saying "BISMILLAH" (IN THE NAME OF ALLAH)
STEP 1: Starting with the right hand, wash both hands up to the wrists, 3x.
STEP 2: Rinse out the mouth with water, 3x.
STEP 3: Clean the nostrils (hungag sin ilong) by sniffing the water into them by the right hand, 3x.
STEP 4: Wash the whole face 3x using both hands, from top of the forehead (tuk tuk) down to the chin (ba'ba) and ear to ear.
At the same time, recite this Niyyah: (OBLIGATORY/Wajib hinangun)
Nawaitu raf'al hadathil asghaari lillahi ta-'aala.
(MEANING: I am purifying myself from minor impurities only for Allah)
STEP 5: Wash the right arm 3x up to the elbow, and then do the same with the left arm.
STEP 6: Wipe the head with wet hands in a front to back motion, once.
STEP 7: Wipe the inner sides of the ears and their outer sides. This should be done with wet fingers, 3X.
STEP 8: Wash the two feet up to the ankles, 3x, beginning with the right foot and then the left foot.
After the washing, you must recite this duwa'a:
Ash hadu allaa ilaaha illallah, wahdahuu laa shareeka lah. Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhuu wa rasuuluh. Allaahumma j'alnee minat tawwaabeeni waj'alnee minal mutatah-hireen.
(MEANING: I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, He is one and has no associate. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah, join me with those who repent of their sins again and again, and join me with those who keep themselves neat and clean at all times>)
NOTE: At this stage the partial ablution is completed and a person who has performed it in the prescribed manner is ready to start his prayer.
One must repeat the ablution if he/she:
-went to the bathroom
-farted (naka-utot)
-vomited (naka-suka)
-fell asleep
-touched his/her private part without a cover
